The state BJP has come out in support of singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh after he took on pro-Khalistan elements during his concert in Calgary, Canada.Sharing a social media post on X, the state BJP unit said, “When true patriotism and Punjabi identity come together, it is natural for enemies to lose sleep. The threats being issued by anti-national elements to Diljit Dosanjh, who has brought global recognition to Punjab today, are proof of their frustration and desperation.”The BJP backing came after Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, leader of the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), released a video warning that the group would oppose Dosanjh’s upcoming shows in the US.Some pro-Khalistan supporters have since called for a boycott of the singer’s shows and are expected to stage protests outside venues.Meanwhile, a new video of Dosanjh surfaced a day before his concert in Winnipeg, Canada, where he says, “I’m being abused from both sides.” The video is from his Calgary concert, where he addressed protests by pro-Khalistan supporters.During the show, Dosanjh said, I am abused from both sides. In India, people call me Khalistani, while here they — pro-Khalistani elements — call me ‘India wala’. I don’t understand where I belong, but I feel I’m on the right path.)
