An Air India flight from Delhi to Bengaluru suffered a tail-strike during landing at the Bengaluru airport on Thursday, forcing the airline to ground the aircraft for inspection and cancel the return flight to the national capital. The incident involved flight AI2651, which was operating from Delhi to Bengaluru. According to the airline, the aircraft landed safely despite the tail-strike and all passengers and crew members disembarked normally without any reported injuries.A tail-strike occurs when the rear section of an aircraft hits the runway during take-off or landing, often triggering mandatory technical inspections to assess possible structural damage.Following the incident, the aircraft has been grounded for what Air India described as a “detailed inspection”. The airline said the matter would be investigated as per established procedures and in coordination with the relevant regulatory authorities. The development also disrupted the return service, with Air India cancelling flight AI2652 from Bengaluru to Delhi. The airline said alternative arrangements were being made to accommodate affected passengers at the earliest.Ground teams at Bengaluru airport have been deployed to assist stranded passengers, the airline added. In a statement, an Air India spokesperson said the safety of passengers and crew remained the airline’s “highest priority” and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused due to the cancellation.
