She met her 13-year-old victim in the classroom at her former job at John Burroughs Middle School in LA Credit: John Burroughs Middle School

The married former teacher will spend 10 years behind bars for the horrific abuse, the New York Post reported.

She was also ordered not to contact her victim in any way, shape or form, including electronically or through a third party.

She previously pleaded no contest to two counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years.

Six other charges against her were dropped.

The disgraced teacher only said “good morning” and “yes” when asked if she understood the sentence on Monday.

Just seconds before she was dragged away to start her decade-long prison term, her attorney – Leonard Levine – whispered something to her.

Matarico was then taken out of the courtroom by a bailiff.

Levine later told The California Post the outcome was “very unfortunate”.

Prosecutors revealed the sickening details of Matarico’s offending, saying she began abusing the boy when he turned 13.

She had met the student when he was just 12 years old.

She had been working at John Burroughs Middle School at the time of the horrific sexual abuse.

The repulsive former educator referred to her teenage victim by the nickname “crystal meth”.

Most of the sickening abuse happened between August and November 2024, according to the criminal complaint.

She was arrested that November, and later her obsession with the boy was unveiled, CBS reported.

Deputy District Attorney Ariel Anson read Instagram messages between Matarico and the victim.

“She indicates that she is in love with him, that he is the only one that she would go to jail for… and that he is her crystal meth,” Anson told the court.

She was also previously accused of providing marijuana to the boy and said she was going to leave her husband for him.

Matarico had been a teacher for 25 years.

Following the sentencing hearing, Levine said his client was “doing as well as she can”.

He added that he was confident she wouldn’t contact the victim and that she was remorseful for her actions.

Matarico has already served 616 days in the LA County jail.
