AUSTRALIAN boxing legend Tony Mundine has died at the age of 75 following a heart attack.

Mundine fought in four weight divisions and ended his career with 80 wins, with 64 of those coming by knockout.

He also challenged for the middleweight world title in 1974 but was stopped by Carlos Monzon.

According to Code Sports, Mundine died in hospital surrounded by his family.

Tributes poured in across the sport, with Australian former undisputed lightweight champ George Kambosos Kr calling him a “great man”.

He said: “Rest in peace to an absolute Australian boxing legend, Tony Mundine.

“A sad day in Australian sport, some great memories at the old Eveleigh Street boxing gym in Redfern sparring Choc with Tony always in his corner. A great man. My condolences to Anthony and the whole Mundine family.”
