The Counter-Intelligence Wing of the Punjab Police has apprehended two associates linked to foreign-based handlers of the banned terrorist outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and seized two hand grenades from their possession.According to police officials, preliminary investigations revealed that the seized grenades were part of a larger conspiracy to target government institutions and key infrastructure in Punjab in an attempt to disturb the peace and disrupt law and order in the state.The operation was carried out by Counter-Intelligence officials in Amritsar following intelligence inputs about the movement of the suspects and their alleged links with foreign-based terror handlers.Police said a case has been registered at the State Special Operations Cell police station under relevant provisions of the Explosive Substances Act and the BNS. Investigators are now working to establish both forward and backward linkages of the terror module and identify other associates in the network.DGP Gaurav Yadav said the arrests are a significant success in preventing a possible terror attack in the state. Further investigations are underway to ascertain the source of the explosives, the communication channels used by the accused, and their connections with foreign operatives.
