The Sarabha Nagar police have registered a fraud and forgery case against an Australia-based woman following allegations that she secured an Aadhaar card by allegedly using fabricated documents linked to her deceased husband.The accused has been identified as Jaspreet Kaur, a native of Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh, who is currently residing in Australia. The case was registered on the complaint of her mother-in-law, Balwinder Kaur, a resident of New BRS Nagar.According to the complainant, Jaspreet Kaur was married to her son, Amarbeer Singh, in 2023. Following Amarbeer’s death, the accused allegedly obtained a duplicate cremation slip from the cremation ground at Jattvibeet and used the document in support of an Aadhaar card application.Balwinder Kaur alleged that the accused concealed material facts and furnished incorrect information to government authorities to secure the identity document. She further claimed that official records were manipulated through misrepresentation, causing financial and legal concerns for the family.Police officials said the allegations were examined during a preliminary inquiry before the registration of the case. Based on the inquiry report, an FIR was lodged against the accused under provisions related to cheating and relevant sections of the Aadhaar Act.ASI Ajit Pal Singh, the investigating officer, said the police were verifying the documents and circumstances under which the Aadhaar card was allegedly obtained. He added that all aspects of the complaint were being investigated and further action would be taken on the basis of evidence collected during the probe.As the accused is presently residing abroad, the police are also looking into the legal procedures required for further action in the case.The investigation is ongoing, and officials said additional facts may emerge as the inquiry progresses.
