Why is Robert Sanchez wearing a head guard in the FA Cup final?
The Blues No1 Sanchez leapt into Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs White during Monday’s embarrassing 3-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge with both players needing to go off injured.
As the Forest playmaker chased a bouncing ball into the Chelsea box, Sanchez dived forward to clear it and the two slammed into each other.
A free-kick was given to Chelsea – already 3-0 down at the time – but the immediate worry was player safety, especially after youngster Jesse Derry had been stretchered off in the first half after another horror incident.
Following a seven minute delay where Sanchez and Gibbs-White were treated, both sides made subs.
Sanchez was replaced by backup ‘keeper Filip Jorgensen and has since gone online to wish Gibbs-White well.

What did Robert Sanchez say after the incident?
The former Brighton ace took a selfie showing a stitched up gash on his forehead and wrote: “Seen that you came out worst than me, hope you are OK big man @morgangibbswhite.”
Gibbs-White himself had posted on Instagram with cotton up his nose, a plaster on his face, and his own set of brutal stitches between his eyes.
The England hopeful said: “Thanks for the messages, what a win congrats T @awoniyi18.”
