A MAN has spent thousands building a stunning mini Greek village in his back garden – complete with its own bar.

Michael Scherrer, 48,  a content creator from Lake Constance, Switzerland spent over a year turning his garden into a tiny theme park.

The Mediterranean paradise is complete with a Greek village featuring cobbled streets, blue shutters and a tiny bar.

However, the project was repeatedly delayed by harsh weather conditions and Swiss building regulations.

The Greek village alone cost £10,000 to build, spanning roughly 250 square feet.

Michael said: “I wanted to make somewhere we could sit in the theme park to have a chat with our clients, so I thought of this – it took longer than you think to build because of permissions in Switzerland – and having to take a break for the weather.

“We picked the theme because we had just finished building this fairy tale alleyway, which was so complicated – the white and blue was so easy – and looked cool – so we picked that.”

“The idea to build the theme park came from us just wanting to garden and build.”

This latest project was designed to recreate the atmosphere of a sun-soaked holiday destination, except only metres away from your front door.

“Because it is summer, whenever I go in there I feel like I am transported,” Michael said.

“We tried to build the bar point so you are completely submerged in the mini village – and it really does feel like you are there.”

Michael said his family has even been able to convince their friends and colleagues they’re on holiday.

He said: “My friends come to the bar and love taking pictures – they fool their friends and people actually believe they are on holiday.

“My sister did it once to her co-workers, and when she came back, six different people came up to her and asked how her holiday weekend was!”

Michael is now hoping some of his creations could be used as a bedroom.

“I will leave the Greek village how it is right now with the homemade bar because there is not much point now it is getting closer to Halloween, when I stop working on it until spring.

“Once spring comes through, I reckon I will put a bed in one of the little homes and make it a sort of guest room or somewhere visitors can stay.”

The content creator said he has been working on the miniature village for more than four years.

He also revealed that he is already planning on future additions to his backyard attraction.

He said: “We have already made a Japanese garden with stonework and maple trees, and now we are planning to move on to a fishing village and a room for the guests – but we have to work this all out first!

“We want to make a pirate ship at one point.

“I might even make a U-turn and instead recreate the house in the TV series ‘Friends’ – who knows!”
