Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring today said the problem of drug addiction in Punjab had quadrupled under the ruling AAP government. He said under AAP, the drug menace had assumed dangerous proportions, with every family either affected or apprehensive of their kids falling prey to the scourge.Addressing mediapersons, the PCC chief asked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann why drug deaths persist despite spending crores under the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign. He asked how many district police chiefs have been held responsible for drug deaths since May 2025. Warring said the drug problem was worst in Bathinda, Mansa, Ferozepur, and Fazilka. He asked who was patronising the supply chain and who was responsible for it, whether it was the area SSP or local ruling party leaders. He said the AAP government had claimed to break the supply chain within three months, but the fact is that it has not been able to do it in five years. He said drug problem was so serious that a woman athlete in Mansa had sold her 6-month-old baby to buy contraband. He disclosed that between August 14 and August 20, seven to eight drug deaths had taken place in the Malwa region.Speaking on the National Human Rights Commission taking cognisance of the allegations against the CM’s wifeto hush up a rape case and the ED’s letter to the DGP asking for registration of a case against Mann’s OSD, Warring said the corruption had crossed all limits in Punjab.
