THE heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is expected to take place on December 11 in Cardiff, according to Eddie Hearn.
On-off talks over a “Battle of Britain” have taken place for several years, but a date is now on the verge of being confirmed.

Matchroom Boxing chief Hearn says the fight is currently penned in for December 11 at the Principality Stadium.
Talks are ongoing to determine the start time for the main card.

The huge fight is expected to kick off later than usual to maximise a worldwide audience.
But Hearn insists it will not start as late as fans may think.

At the weekend, he explained: “People talk about a 3am BST fight? I don’t think you’ll see the fight that late.
“But obviously there had to be conversations with the stadium about what’s possible and what is not possible.
“That’s probably a reason for the delay [of the official announcement] – to make sure everything is boxed off with the council to have a slightly later start time.”
Hearn and Joshua both wanted the fight to take place in the UK and not New York like initially proposed.

The boxing promoter went on to reveal that AJ pushed for the final decision to be made.
He continued: “Over the past week or two, we made our decision. AJ was the guy leading that decision.
“We weren’t interesting in accepting extra money or changing the terms of the agreement to change the location. He wanted to make sure the fight was in the UK.
“Since then, they have accepted that. We Are working together and speaking to Netflix to lock in the date. I think the date is locked in.”
Fury‘s promoter, Frank Warren, says the Gypsy King agreed to stage the fight in the UK because he is confident that he will knock Joshua out.
Warren told iFL: “Tyson’s contract was for [the fight] to go on elsewhere. Tyson has made this fight happen by coming to the UK.
“He could have said: ‘Contractually, I don’t have to do this,’ Tyson wants to fight because he firmly believes he is going to knock [Joshua] out.”
