A woman allegedly killed her husband by inflicting a deep cut on his abdomen and was seen putting his protruding intestines into a plastic bag before jumping from the terrace, police said on Monday.The postmortem later found that part of his liver and his right kidney were missing, prompting police to investigate whether the disappearance of the organs was linked to the killing. The woman, who sustained serious injuries in the fall, is undergoing treatment.The incident took place on Saturday at a rented accommodation near Raj Palace on Pehowa Road.The deceased, Rajesh, 40, a resident of Dhampur village in Uttar Pradesh, had been living there with his wife, Vimla Devi, for about a year and worked as a water-supply employee with a company.According to landlord Rinku, he heard the couple shouting at around 5 pm on Saturday. When he reached the terrace, he allegedly found Rajesh lying in a pool of blood with deep injuries to his abdomen. He told police that he saw Devi putting Rajesh’s protruding intestines into a plastic bag.On seeing the landlord, Devi allegedly panicked and jumped from the terrace. She sustained serious injuries, including to her spine, and was admitted to a hospital.Police recovered three knives of different sizes from the scene.The post-mortem examination has raised questions over the circumstances surrounding the death.Forensic expert Dr Gaurav Kaushik said about half of the deceased’s liver and his right kidney were missing when the body was brought for examination.A deep incision measuring around 37 centimetres was found on the abdomen, with the intestines protruding from the wound, he said.Police are investigating the whereabouts of the missing organs and whether their disappearance is connected with the killing.According to the landlord, Devi was involved in ‘jhaad-phoonk’, or traditional healing and exorcism, and the couple frequently quarrelled.The couple had been married for several years but had no children. Police, however, said the exact motive for the murder has not yet been established.Adarsh police station SHO Surender Sandhu said Devi was undergoing treatment and would be questioned after her condition improves. Police will proceed with her arrest and interrogation accordingly, he said.Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the killing as well as the disappearance of the liver and kidney.The exact motive and sequence of events are expected to become clear after the woman is medically fit to be questioned, police said.
