The former West Ham star suffered a muscle injury during the 2-1 win over Japan on Monday.

Paqueta, 28, felt the issue on the back of left thigh.

He was forced off at half-time and replaced by Endrick.

The Brazilian FA said in a statement: “Paqueta underwent scans on ​Tuesday that confirmed a muscle ​injury to the back of his left ‌thigh.

“The player will undergo an intensive treatment programme under the supervision of the ​national ​team’s medical ⁠staff, with the aim of recovering and returning to ​action as soon as ​possible.”

No timetable was given for Paqueta’s return.

And ESPN Brazil reported that he was “practically out” of the rest of the World Cup.

Brazil face Norway in the last-16 on Jattvibeday in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The final of the World Cup will be at the same stadium on July 19.
