A brawl during a marriage function in Ludhiana left four persons injured in the early hours of Tuesday. One person suffered a bullet injury, while three others were attacked with sharp-edged weapons.Investigating officer Sub-Inspector Jasbir Singh of Police Division-2 said the incident occurred around 3 am near Kochar Market, where a brawl between two groups escalated into violence. Three persons were injured in the initial clash with sharp-edged weapons.As the injured were heading to the civil hospital, members of the opposing group challenged them again. During the confrontation, a man opened fire, injuring a person identified as Dharminder.The injured were rushed to the hospital, where one of them is said to be in critical condition.Whether the firearm used in the incident was licensed or unlicensed is still under investigation, added SI Singh.When asked if the people involved in the dispute were gangsters or had a criminal background, SI Singh said it was not a gang war. “Those involved in the fight were neighbours and were under the influence of alcohol. A minor argument escalated into a violent clash,” he said.Meanwhile, ASI Dharminder Kumar, incharge of the Janakpuri police post, said fired three gunshots were fired near the civil hospital, one of which hit the victim in the leg. He added that the weapon is suspected to be licensed, but confirmation will be possible only after it is recovered.
