DIEGO SIMEONE was fuming after Julian Alvarez was booed by his own fans while being substituted on during the Madrid Derby.

The Argentine star was involved in a chaotic transfer saga in the summer window which saw him try to secure a move to rivals Barcelona.

Arsenal were also interested in his services, but Atletico held firm that they were not interested in selling him – especially to the defending Spanish champions.

Fans were not appreciative of his conduct during the strange standoff, jeering him earlier this season while the star was stopped from heading over to the fans by his team-mates.

And it seems even the mammoth occasion at the Metropolitano was not enough to overshadow the bad blood between the two parties.

Alvarez was brought on off the bench for Jonathan David after the Canadian gave his side a 2-0 advantage over their rivals.

But the 70,000-strong crowd where not in a forgiving mood, and brutally booed and whistled the star as he entered the field of play.

Manager Simeone was absolutely fuming with the gesture, with the antics hardly helping his side’s confidence as they looked to defend their lead against Jose Mourinho’s men.
