The legend was registered as England’s oldest man, having been born on October 13, 1916.
He was the UK’s second oldest man, with Scotland’s Hugh Kerr being one year older.
Arthur, who died just months before his birthday, lived through the reigns of four British monarchs and the terms of 24 UK prime ministers.
He was born to Fred and Lily Aspinall, growing up in a lower middle-class family in Bolton.

He stayed with the family firm until 2006 when he retired aged 90.
In 1944 he married his late wife Constance Nellie Cheadle and had two children.
Constance sadly passed away in November of 1963 at age 45 – more than 60 years ago.
Funeral arrangements are set to be announced by his family in the coming days.
This comes not long after the world’s oldest man Marcelino “Mashico” Abad Tolentino died last month at the age of 125.

The farmer passed away on April 3 while sleeping at his care home.
The oldest man alive today is now 113-year-old Brazilian João Marinho Neto.
The world’s oldest living person is Ethel Caterham from the UK who is currently 116 years old.
