With scepticism surrounding these masks and questions over their effectiveness compared with expensive salon treatments, I’ve been testing a few to see whether they can deliver genuine results.

I tested the Ulike ReGlow LED mask a few months ago and have since tried a couple of other popular models (which you can find in our best LED masks round-up), so I’m well versed in what qualities to look for.
Armed with problematic skin, I used the Ulike ReGlow LED mask for four weeks, even though some results are promised in just two, to see whether it would actually make a difference to my skin.

Who’s it best for? The mask is great for a range of ailments, from blemishes to problematic skin to wrinkles; it really does cover every base in terms of issues.
What we loved: The 360 mirror tech, the four LED lights per slot, the deep penetration of the infrared light, the support strap and the four different modes.
What we didn’t love: The mask is usually fairly pricey, but with the current £150 discount, it is extremely affordable.
Some key features are the comfortable head strap and eye defenders.

Shark CryoGlow review: I tried the viral LED mask to see if it’s worth the hype
Off the bat, the mirror tech was the most notable feature, as it allows for full face coverage, enhanced by the fact that there are no mouth or nose openings.
This is improved by the fact that there are four more lights per LED section than in competing models, which provides full-coverage treatment.
When combined with the mirror technology, which the Shark CyroGlow does not have, it allows the light to penetrate all three layers of the skin in the process.
Another feature that outperforms competing brands is the secure eye protection, which prevents light leakage more effectively than any other brand I’ve used.
The mask has four extra LED bulbs per spot compared to other leading competitors.

I experienced no light leakage at all, and the head strap at the back was extremely comfortable.

By the two-week mark, I had definitely seen a reduction in redness, and by the end of the fourth week, I noticed that my skin looked plumper and dewier.
Overall, the main benefits I saw were a reduction in active acne and redness, as well as a dewier, more radiant texture overall.
I noticed that my skin provided a plumper, dewier base for makeup without having to use all of the primers I usually throw at my face in a desperate bid for hydration.

The only qualm I had with the mask was the price point, but it’s currently on sale for £199.99, down from £349.99, which removes one of my main perceived cons.
In terms of safety, despite the strength of the four LEDs per patch and the deep penetration, the mask has been tested in SGS laboratories and is UKCA-cleared, meaning it is not only effective and safe but also backed by scientific testing.

Nothing short of a game changer.
Despite the price of these masks being slightly intimidating and off-putting (a bit like how you look wearing one), it is more than worth the price tag.
In just four weeks, I couldn’t believe how dewier my skin looked, or the reduction in fine lines around my eyes.
It will save me hundreds on facials and, alongside a solid skincare routine, will become your new best friend in your beauty regime.
