Panic gripped Bareta town in Mansa district on Monday evening after a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former Zila Parishad member, Dalvir Singh Kala Jawanda, was injured in a firing incident.Sources said an unidentified motorcycle-borne assailant opened fire on Jawanda as he was about to get into his car outside his commission agent’s shop in the grain market to go home at Kulrian village here.He sustained a gunshot injury and was rushed to the Civil Hospital at Budhlada before being referred to a hospital in Ludhiana.DSP Sikander Singh said the investigation was under way. CCTV footage is being examined.
