Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) Budhlada Assembly constituency in-charge Dr Nishan Singh Hakamwala on Thursday resigned from all party posts, citing health issues, family responsibilities and financial circumstances.Nishan Singh submitted his resignation in a handwritten letter on Thursday, a day after he participated in the SAD’s protest in Budhlada.Explaining his decision, Nishan Singh said he had no grievance against anyone in the party but was unable to continue with his responsibilities because of his personal circumstances.A private doctor by profession, Nishan Singh had earlier served as the senior medical officer (SMO) in Mansa. He had contested the Assembly elections from the Budhlada constituency in 2017 and 2022.He did not disclose whether he intended to join another political party or pursue any other political activity. He said he would reveal his future course of action once he had taken a decision.Nishan Singh, however, maintained that the SAD’s organisational structure was the strongest in Budhlada. He also claimed that Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal had secured a lead from the constituency in the Lok Sabha election.He further claimed that he had not spoken to SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal or Harsimrat Kaur Badal before submitting his resignation from all party posts.
