‘The Notorious’ suffered the potentially career-ending injury in his ill-fated trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier five years ago.

McGregor snapped the tibia and fibula in his left leg, which was compromised going into the fight, in the dying embers of the first round of the match.
The Irishman went on a foul-mouthed tirade at Poirier and his wife, Jolie, as medical staff treated him as he lay stricken on the octagon fence.
McGregor, understandably, had questions about his ability to return after the catastrophic break.
But as he lay in his hospital bed, he made a promise to himself to practice what he preaches.

He said: “When that injury happened, I put it to myself that, ‘Now is the time that what you say to yourself behind closed doors, it’s now time to act on that.’
“‘You’ve got to put in the work on yourself. And that I have done.’”
McGregor, 37, admits he hasn’t lived the life of an elite athlete in recent years.
He said: “I’ve been gifted this ability to work and pursue my craft.

McGregor will be welcomed back to the cage by former foe and fellow fan favourite Max Holloway.
The Return of the Mac will top a STACKED UFC 329 card, which takes place at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.
The UFC’s first simultaneous two-weight champion will share the card will Brit superstar Paddy Pimblett, who takes on Benoit Saint-Denis in a mouthwatering lightweight showdown.
UFC 329 is ja-packed with entertaining fights from top to bottom.
And MMA fans in the UK and Ireland can watch all the action from the Etihad LIVE on TNT Sports Box Office.
The UFC’s annual International Fight Week card of the year will be available to purchase for a mere £19.99.

He’ll be welcomed back to the octagon by fellow former featherweight champion Max Holloway, whom he’ll take on in a welterweight war.
As well as being his first fight since recovering from his horror break, his clash with Holloway will be his first since being found civilly liable for assaulting Nikita Hand at a Dublin Hotel in December 2018, which he vehemently denied doing.
He lost his appeal against the verdict handed down at Dublin’s High Court in November 2024.
And the Supreme Court rejected Mystic MMA star’s bid for a further appeal last December.
