He also said Moscow has lost a staggering 150,000 soldiers to gain just 50km of territory this year.

The Russians “have lost the initiative on the battlefield, mind you, they haven’t lost the war, but they have lost the initiative,” Zelensky said.

He outlined that this year, Russia has advanced slowly, and that during this period, they have “lost 150,000 men for 50 kilometres… that’s what real war is”.

Zelensky added: “These strikes, these ballistic missiles he’s using, it’s to demonstrate that he’s waging his war.”

The Ukrainian leader also hailed his country’s brave and robust army, before revealing Kyiv has been working on “anti-ballistic missile systems”.

These will be much cheaper than the US Patriot systems, he said.

“We will work with France, with Sweden, with Denmark, with Italy, Norway and other countries,” he said of the project.

“In total, there are eight countries that can share many details. It’s like Lego, ballistic Lego.”

It comes as Putin’s war loses momentum on the frontline as Ukraine strikes back with a series of deep attacks inside Russia on critical energy infrastructure.

Kyiv has launched a series of drone assaults on depots and refineries – sparking chronic fuel shortages and widespread blackouts.

The Russian- occupied territory of Crimea, which Putin annexed in 2014, has also been subject to a wave of Ukrainian attacksrecently,t which are aimed at isolating the peninsula.

Ukraine also sunk a Russian military ship in the Black Sea today in the latest blow to Putin.

The Ukrainian navy said the 205ft vessel was sunk by a new and secretive Sargan-3000 marine drone on Tuesday.

It confirmed there were casualties and injuries among the Emerald’s crew.

A satellite image showed the stricken ship partially submerged by the harbour wall in Novorossiysk.

It also comes amid reports Putin is preparing a huge mobilisation of soldiers within months.

And the tyrant is also said to be plotting an armed attack on Poland in a chilling bid to test Nato’s response, Washington has warned.

The operation could see Russian soldiers storm across the border and target critical infrastructure with missiles and drones.
